I did a Shopback Review going through my experience using the app/service – I’ll share the pro’s, the con’s, how much I’ve much with the Cash back app, how it compares to other cash back apps for online shopping like Cash Rewards, and my final thoughts on it.

1. What is Shopback?
Shopback is a cash back service. When you buy products at participating stores, you will receive a percentage cash back on your purchase – often between 1% and 10%, sometimes more. A common cash back percentage is around 2-3%.
2. How does Shopback work?
You install the Chrome extension on your browser, the click the widget and ‘activate’ the cashback, then you make your purchase as normal and it gets automatically tracked in your Shopback Australia account. Make sure you only use approved discount codes (or no code at all) and also ensure your ad blockers are turned off otherwise it won’t track correctly.
3. Is Shopback Australia safe?
Yes, Shopback Australia is definitely safe. They have a large number of reputable Aussie merchants on there and hundreds of thousands of real customers.
4. Shopback vs Cashrewards
Shopback and Cashrewards are very similar – personally I feel Shopback is better for my own buying habits and they have more discounts at stores that I shop at. Both offer great discounts, often similar discounts. CashRewards also have a partnership with ANZ called MaxRewards where you can get additional perks if you’re an ANZ cardholder, like bigger discounts. I’ve used this a few times, it’s only a small benefit but it’s better than nothing.
5. Shopback app
There is a Shopback iOS app and Shopback Android app which you can use. They are downloaded from the respective app stores.
6. Is Shopback legit Reddit?
Users on Reddit have asked if Shopback is legitimate? The overall consensus is yes, Shopback is definitely legit and a safe service to use. You get genuine cashbacks from leading retailers. The only downside is you sometimes have to wait a few months to be paid out your cashback.

8. How does Shopback make money?
They make
Shopback makes the majority of their money from merchant fees – which it gets from the retail partners. The retail partners are happy to pay that fee because Shopback (often) drives them plenty of business.
Shopback doesn’t publicly state their merchant fees but usually the way they work is they charge a % fee to the merchants, likely 1-5% we estimate.
Services like these often also have a fixed flat fee component as well to the merchant per transaction. You as the customer don’t pay Shopback any fees, you don’t have to pay to be a member or anything like that. The trade off for the merchant is while they have to pay Shopback a fee, they drive more business as a result and often make more off those customers off the back end long term.
9. Shopback Reddit
Shopback has been discussed a lot on reddit – with most of the feedback being fairly positive. Reddit isn’t always necessarily the most positive place, but people mainly comment on it being legit and sometimes you can have issues having your cashback validated by the seller (or the plugin doesn’t always work as it should).
